Soon after the Morgan Ranch introduced its first Wagyu herd in 1992, Dan participated in a Food and Wine Magazine event in Aspen, Colorado. Arriving on opening night to the first of what would, over the next many years become dozens of such events, he found himself needing to calm his nerves and so settled into a chair at the bar of the Little Nell. After half an hour sipping his scotch alone, another couple entered and leaned up against the bar, ordering a round themselves. Some back and forth pleasantries, and another round of drinks later, the trio found a shared passion, food.
