The Best Wild Rice Recipe
Prep Time: 30 Minutes
Serves: 6-8
Cooking Ingredients
- 1 cup uncooked wild rice
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- 1 large onion
- 2 tablespoons chives
- 1 can 7 0z mushrooms - stems and pieces - drained
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 3 cloves chopped garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon dried hot / chili peppers
- salt and pepper to taste - careful with the salt
Cooking Instructions
Wash and drain wild rice. Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees
Pour olive oil in skillet
Put rice and almonds in frying pan. Cook and stir until are golden brown . Approx 20 minutes
Heat chicken broth to boiling
Bring out casserole , add rice and almond , add the balance of ingredients including chicken broth, olive oil and everything on the stove, stir.
Cover casserole and bake for an hour at 325 degrees or until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender and fluffy
Is great with steaks, sliced beef steak , roasts. Tired of potatoes then add this wild rice
